Wilhelmjstrasse 3 (Usingen)
The house at Wilhelmjstrasse 3 in Usingen , a town in the Hochtaunus district in Hesse , was built in 1540. The half-timbered house is a protected architectural monument .
description
The house has three floors, all of which are half-timbered. It was renovated in 1879, and the shop was probably set up with large windows at that time. It is worth mentioning the carved corner post, which shows a man (the portrait of the client) in contemporary clothing, with a ruff and a goblet in his hand. Various inscriptions, especially on the eaves side , provide information about the construction and renovation of the building.
The house is the right neighbor of the town hall of the city. Together with the house on his right ( Wilhelmjstrasse 5 ), it was built by Wendel Karter, the administrator of the Cistercian monastery Thron bei Wehrheim . Both houses are therefore called "karter houses". On the side of the house is a wooden plaque with a blessing in Latin, which probably comes from an older soup kitchen.
