Wilhelmus Smetterus
Wilhelmus Smetterus or Wilhelm Smetter, Butter or Butter (* around 1605 in Wesel ; † 1680 in Büderich ) was a German Reformed preacher and author of several theological works. On the covers of his books written in Dutch , he is referred to as a preacher in Buyrick (Büderich) for a period of 30 years . In his monograph, HJ Postema calls him a “headstrong Pietist ” (“recalcitrante piëtist”).
