The Wilkins Strait is a strait in Canada and separates to the Queen Elizabeth Islands belonging Borden Iceland (in the north), Mackenzie King Iceland (in the south) and Brock Iceland (in the southwest). The strait in the Canadian-Arctic archipelago is 120 kilometers long and its smallest width is 18.2 kilometers. The strait is named after the polar explorer George Hubert Wilkins . Originally it was assumed that it was not a strait but a large bay. This explains the original name Wilkins Sound , which was changed to the current name in 1947 after the discovery that Borden Island and MacKenzie King Island were two separate islands.
