Willekin von Bardewik
Willekin von Bardewik (* before 1280; † after 1320) was the first traditional lawyer of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck .
Life
The von Bardewik family has been recorded in the Lübeck Council since 1188 and could have immigrated from Bardowick during the phase of the German city's foundation . Magister Willekin von Bardewik was the son of the Lübeck councilor (from 1250) and mayor (1263–1290) Johann von Bardewik . He enrolled at the University of Bologna in 1299 , where he belonged to the German nation . In 1310 and 1316 he received collective powers from the Lübeck council together with others, including Lübeck councilors, to represent the city of Lübeck in their disputes with the Lübeck bishop Burkhard von Serkem as trustee vis-à-vis the Roman Curia. The start of his activity followed the activity of his relative, the Lübeck mayor Albert von Bardewik . In the finance book of the city of Lübeck he is listed as the highest official of the city of Lübeck for the period from mid-1316 to the end of 1320. His successor was Magister Dietmar Schulop in 1321 , who exercised the office of Syndicus until 1324 and later became canons of Schwerin and Lübeck.
