Willi Jentzsch

Willi Jentzsch (born May 15, 1886 in Wolfen , † May 23, 1936 in Danzig ) was a German teacher and politician.

Life

Jentzsch was born as the son of the landowner Friedrich Wilhelm Jentzsch (1854−) and his wife Wilhelmine Pauline Minna Wilde (1857-1941). He was a teacher in Gdansk and chairman of the Gdansk Civil Service Association. On October 27, 1926, he was elected Senator of the Free City of Danzig . He resigned on November 1, 1927 for health reasons. On November 1, 1927, he was appointed rector of the prestigious secondary school in St. Johann an der Fleischergasse in the Langfuhr district. In March 1936 he became school director in Gdansk and was responsible for all primary schools in the city. He died two months after his appointment.

In 1921 he married the teacher Gertrud Drange (1891–), daughter of Emma and Emil Drange from Elbing. One child of this marriage is Herlind Kasner (* July 8, 1928 - April 6, 2019), the mother of Angela Merkel . After his death the family moved to Hamburg.
