Willi Schirrmacher

Willi Schirrmacher (born April 30, 1906 in Mülheim am Rhein , † March 4, 1992 ) was a German SPD politician .

education and profession

Schirrmacher attended elementary school, a voluntary union youth seminar, the adult education center and the labor school. He initially worked as an office worker and eventually became head of the employment office, branch in Cologne-Mülheim. He was district secretary of the SPD Mittelrhein and also worked as a retailer.

From 1923 to 1925 Schirrmacher was the youth leader of the Socialist Workers' Youth . He became a member of the SPD in 1925. From 1926 to 1933 he was a member of the workers' sports cartel in Cologne. Schirrmacher worked illegally from 1933 to 1935. In 1936 the People's Court of Berlin sentenced him to 6 years in prison and 6 years in loss of honor. After the war, he co-founded the SPD Cologne-Stadt and the Middle Rhine district in 1945. From 1925 he was a member of the workers' welfare organization. He acted as city councilor in the 2nd appointed city council assembly in Cologne from January to October 1946 and from 1954 to 1962 he was councilor of the city of Cologne.

From July 23, 1962 to July 25, 1970, Schirrmacher was a directly elected member of the 5th and 6th Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia for constituency 017 Cologne-City V and for constituency 019 Cologne-City VI.

His grave is in the Mülheimer Friedhof in Cologne (hallway B6 no. 5/6).
