Willi Karl Wagner (born August 5, 1951 in Wetzlar ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Willi Wagner played at SV Darmstadt 98 from 1971 . He played with the lilies in the then second-class Regionalliga Süd . When the 2nd Bundesliga was introduced in 1974 , Wagner and the Darmstadt team qualified for the new southern season. In this league he celebrated his greatest successes, he was promoted to the Bundesliga twice - in 1978 and 1981 . After the ascent, the direct descent followed both times. His last season he played in the second division. In total, he made 360 ​​league appearances and 29 goals for Darmstadt. He also took part in eight promotion games to the Bundesliga in the 1972/73 season.

After his career as a football player, Willi Wagner worked as a high school teacher for chemistry, politics and economics at the Eichendorffschule in Wetzlar-Dalheim.
