Dixon Colley
Dixon Colley ( William Charles Dixon Colley , born November 14, 1913 in Bathurst , † January 17, 2001 in Sukuta ) was a journalist and publisher in the West African state of Gambia . He was the founder of the Gambia Press Union (GPU).
Life
During the Second World War he went to Europe. After a long stay abroad, including in the United Kingdom, Dixon Colley returned to British Gambia in 1963 . In the same year he founded his newspaper Africa Nyaato , which changed its name to The Nation in 1964 . He remained her editor until the 1990s, when Dixon Colleys was hired for reasons of age.
Dixon Colley founded the Gambia Press Union (GPU) with a group of journalists in 1978, of which he was an honorary member for life.
He died at the age of 87 after a brief illness in his house in Sukuta.
