William Kwong Yu Yeung

William Kwong Yu Yeung (* 1960 in Hong Kong ) is a Canadian astronomer and asteroid explorer of Chinese origin.

He discovered a total of 1,864 asteroids between 1999 and 2008, making it one of the most efficient asteroid hunters. He also discovered the periodic comet 172P / Yeung . He was also responsible for the discovery of the J002E3 object , which was initially mistaken for an asteroid until it was identified as part of the Saturn V rocket that brought Apollo 12 to the moon .

He began his work at the Rock Finder Observatory ( IAU code 652) in Calgary , Alberta , and then moved to the Desert Beaver Observatory ( IAU code 919) in Arizona and the Desert Eagle Observatory ( IAU code 333).
