The William Poole House (also known as Magnolia Grove or William Cade Thompson House ) is a historic plantation house in Dayton , Marengo County , Alabama , in the United States . It is located at the intersection of Alabama State Route 25 and Palmetto Road . Together with other smaller buildings on the property, the William Poole House forms a Historic District .
The house, which is now privately owned, was built around 1848. The architecture is designed in the Greek Revival . The foundation is made of brick , the walls are covered with a wooden facade and the roof is made of asphalt . A few building materials are made of metal.
According to the National Register of Historic Places , the district was of particular significance from 1825 to 1849. The specific year is given as 1848. The William Poole House was listed on July 7, 1994 as part of the Multiple Property Submission Plantation Houses of the Alabama Canebrake and Their Associated Outbuildings as a Historic District under the number 94000687 on the National Register of Historic Places .
