William Remington (athlete)
William Procter Remington (born March 13, 1879 in Philadelphia , † December 19, 1963 in La Jolla ) was an American athlete and bishop .
At the Olympic Games in 1900 , he missed the finals in the 110-meter hurdles as runner-up in the repechage. In the hurdles over 200 m, he was eliminated in the preliminary run. He had more success in the long jump , where he finished fourth with 6.825 m.
William Remington was a student at the University of Pennsylvania during his athletic career . He later studied at Virginia Theological Seminary and became Bishop of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America . In 1918 he was ordained bishop by Daniel Sylvester Tuttle and Charles David Williams and Theodore Payne Thurston . He served as a suffragan from South Dakota from 1918 to 1922 and in Pennsylvania from 1945 to 1961. He was also the second diocesan bishop of Eastern Oregon from 1923 to 1945 .
