William Torge

William Torge (* in the 19th or 20th century; † in the 20th or 21st century) was a screenwriter , songwriter and journalist .

life and work

William Torge appeared at the time of the Weimar Republic in 1926 as an artist for a commemorative publication edited by Ernst Rodewald to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Hanover Men's Singing Association .

Together with Ferdinand Schneider, Torge wrote the script for the black- and- white silent and documentary film Das deutsche Lied , produced by Döring Filmwerke , directed by Karl Pindl , which premiered on November 6, 1928 in the Titania-Palast in Berlin .

At the time of National Socialism , Torge composed the text for the “Ahoi!” Maschsee waltz with the music of Hermann Ritzau , which was written on the occasion of the inauguration of the Maschsee in Hanover on May 21, 1936. The work dedicated to Hanover's Lord Mayor Arthur Quantity with a drawing by “Vieweg” on the title page was published as an edition for a voice and piano by Adolf Hampe.

William Torge also worked as a journalist for more than half a century, for example as an editor for the Norddeutsche Zeitung .
