Willy Benda

Willy Benda (born October 5, 1870 in Vevey ; † August 18, 1929 in Bielefeld ) was a German cellist and conductor .

Life

Benda lived in Scotland in the 1890s and was professor of piano, cello and accompaniment at the Athenaeum School of Music . He was also the conductor of the Greenock Amateur Orchestra, which has more than 60 members. For one year (1898) he participated in the Kosman String Quartet.

In 1907, Benda was called from Charlottenburg to Bielefeld to become director of the Bielefeld Conservatory.
