Willy Faktorovitch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Willy Faktorovitch , also known only by his first name Willy , (* 1889 in Kiev , Russian Empire , today Ukraine , † 1960 in France ) was a Russian-French cameraman .

Live and act

Faktorovitch came to France as a child and began his professional career in 1905 as a news cameraman. At the beginning of the 1910s he was briefly employed by Pathé , from 1912 to 1919 Willy worked for Éclair-Journal. Immediately after the end of the First World War , he began working as a cameraman for movies and stayed in this position until he retired at the age of 65. Only a few of the cinema productions he has photographed, such as Marcel Pagnol's production “César” (1936), are of historical importance.

Willy Faktorovitch's son Charly Grégoire Faktorovitch, who professionally called himself Charly Willy-Gricha (Neuilly November 22, 1915 - Paris July 23, 1987), also worked as a cameraman. His filmography is often mistakenly mixed up with that of his father.
