Willy Geisler (* 1886 in Wölfelsgrund , Habelschwerdt district ; † 1952 in Berlin ) was a German composer .

Life

Willy Geisler was the son of a wood sculptor in the mountain health resort of Wölfelsgrund in the county of Glatz .

After his musical training he started as an operetta composer . Over 30 operetta stages in Germany performed his works in the 1920s. Liebling der Welt had the greatest success with over 300 performances at the Theater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich after Fritz Fischer directed it towards the revue operetta .

With the advent of radio, he created numerous compositions of upscale light music such as orchestral suites , serenades and romances, which were mostly intended for salon orchestras and became widely known through the new medium. He was also active as a film composer.

The musical education for children and youth was important to Willy Geisler. He wrote a few children's songs and presented a few orchestral instruments in a simple, text-based composition. Together with Erich Gottwald, he published a two-part work Music for Middle Schools in 1927 .
