Willy Holzmüller
Willy Holzmüller (born March 3, 1931 in Glauchau ) is a former German soccer player .
Athletic career
In 1956, Willy Holzmüller moved from BSG Chemie Glauchau to SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt . The early days with the Karl Marx townspeople were not very successful for him. In 1957 he rose with the club from the GDR league . In the following year, Holzmüller even had to relegate to the district league with the SC Motor. Despite the initial failures, he was called up in 1957 for an international game of the GDR national soccer team, which he lost to the ČSSR with 1: 3.
This made Holzmüller the first Chemnitz player to play an international match for the GDR. He remained loyal to his club and returned to the league in 1962. After a total of over 500 games, he ended his career in 1966. Willy Holzmüller is now an honorary member of Chemnitzer FC.
