Wim de Vries (born August 9, 1970 in Dieren ) is a Dutch jazz drummer. Together with René Creemers he forms the duo Drumbassadors .

Life

De Vries played snare drums in a marching band as a child and teenager . From 1986 he studied drums at the Arnhem Conservatory. At the same time he became a member of the Marcus Schinkel Trio with the pianist and keyboardist Marcus Schinkel and the bassist Bas Rietmeijer , with whom he has recorded four albums so far.

He was also a member of the Arnhem Jazz Trio . With the group's pianist, Johan van der Kouwe , he went to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He then toured with groups like Oostenwind and JazzFactor and took part in a European tour of the Glenn Miller Orchestra .

Between 1999 and 2005 de Vries worked on various theater projects, then he founded the duo The Drumbassadors with René Creemers . He also appeared at festivals with drummers such as Steve Gadd , Virgil Donati , Steve Smith and William Kennedy .
