Wincenty Ferdynand Lessel

Wincenty Ferdynand Lessel (* around 1750 in Eule (today Jílové u Prahy ), † after 1825 in Puławy ) was a Polish composer.

Lessel studied in Dresden with Johann Adam Hiller and Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf and was a violinist in the Royal Chapel from 1766 to 1780. After that he worked in various Polish aristocratic houses as a conductor, harpsichordist and teacher until 1811. From 1811 he was organist in Pulawy.

In addition to numerous piano and harpsichord pieces for four hands, Lessel composed organ preludes, polonaises for orchestra as well as ten operas and operettas on topics from Polish history, all of which are lost.

His son was Franciszek Lessel .
