The Neuss-Hoisten wind turbines are located near Hoisten in the south of the urban area of Neuss . The wind power concentration zone is on the outermost edge of the urban area on the border with Grevenbroich .

history

The first calculations to find a suitable location began in 2011. In June 2012, the first preliminary contracts to secure the property were concluded between Stadtwerke Neuss and the farmers involved. In September 2012, the planning for the construction of two wind turbines was commissioned by the Neuss municipal utilities supervisory board. The approval planning was submitted to the responsible authority at the end of 2013. In January 2015, the Rhein-Kreis Neuss approved the facilities. In July 2016, the construction was officially decided by the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Neuss.

The two wind turbines were built in autumn 2016 by the general contractor, Enova Energiesysteme GmbH & Co. KG on behalf of Stadtwerke Neuss, and went online in December 2016. There are two Enercon E-82s , each with an output of 2.3 MW, with which a total of 9.5 GWh should be generated annually. Enova also takes over the technical management of the plants. A three-hectare orchard meadow was created as an ecological compensation plant.

During the approval and construction phase, several lawsuits were filed against the construction of the wind turbines. In spring 2018, the last plaintiff was compensated as part of a settlement for not taking further legal steps.

The total cost of the project is 7.2 million euros. In order to finance the systems, citizens of Neuss were able to acquire shares in a wind energy savings bond from Volksbank Düsseldorf-Neuss at the beginning of 2017 . The savings bond has a term of five years and a maximum volume of 2 million euros.

technology

Overall, the two wind turbines have an installed capacity of 4.6 MW.
