The Neuss wind farm is located near Röckrath in the southwest of the urban area of Neuss , near the Buscherhof , and consists of four wind turbines . The wind power concentration zone is located at the very edge of the urban area on the border with Korschenbroich . The Korschenbroich-Süd wind farm is directly adjacent .
history
The first wind turbine was built by ABO Wind in 2011 and went online in June 2011. It is a Vestas V90 with an output of 2 MW, which will generate 3.5 GWh annually.
At the end of 2014, two more wind turbines were approved. The approval was preceded by a seven year long legal dispute between the city of Neuss and the investor Karl-Heinz Weißbarth. Since the originally planned systems were subsequently replaced by a different type, the construction project was not implemented in 2015, but only in the first half of 2017. Two Enercon E-92 wind turbines were built by the manufacturer for Windpark Neuss GmbH .
In January 2017, construction work also began on a Senvion MM100 wind turbine, which was again planned and built by ABO Wind. The client is RheinWerke GmbH , a joint venture between Stadtwerke Düsseldorf and Kölner RheinEnergie . This facility was completed in April 2017.
On October 24, 2018, one of the two Enercon wind turbines broke a wing. The Neuss civil engineering department set up a restricted area of 500 meters around the wind turbine; the nearby A46 motorway was not affected by the closure. People were not harmed. A special crane had to be procured for the rescue, of which only three are available in the whole of Germany. A new wing was installed in winter 2018/19 and the systems are back in operation.
technology
There are three different types of turbines in the wind farm. The four wind turbines have a total installed capacity of 8.7 MW.
