The Rhein GmbH (proper spelling: Rhein GmbH ) is a joint subsidiary of the Stadtwerke Dusseldorf AG and RheinEnergie AG in Cologne . Both companies each hold 50 percent of the shares.
The company was founded on May 16, 2013. It is currently concentrating its business activities on the three core topics of electromobility , district heating in the Rhineland metropolitan region (district heating network Rheinschiene Cologne - Düsseldorf) and the expansion of renewable energies . Headquarters of the Rhine works is Dusseldorf .
A spokesman for Stadtwerke Düsseldorf said: "The talks that we have been holding with Cologne since 2010 for mutual support in the grid business are to be expanded to include topics relating to the energy transition." it should employ staff from the parent company. RheinWerke are to have an advisory board on which the shareholders and employee representatives sit.
A first project is the 50 percent stake in the project company "Biogas Pool 3 für Stadtwerke GmbH & Co. KG", which is building a biogas processing plant in Wolfshagen , Brandenburg .
Others
There was a company with a similar name, 'Rheinwerk', which manufactured waste and recyclable containers. It merged on July 1, 2013 to form the ESE brand.
