Windermere Lake is a broadened point of the Columbia River . To the southeast of the lake is the town of Windermere and the town of Invermere on the northeast side of the lake . The average depth of the lake is 4.5 meters.
On the western side of the lake are the Purcell Mountains . A railway line runs between the mountains and the lake. The area on the east side of the lake is flatter at first, then the Rocky Mountains join. East of the lake extending Highway 93 / 95 .
In earlier sources, the lake was also called Lower Columbia Lake .
