Columbia Wetlands along Highway 95 south of Golden (Columbia Wetlands)

As an extension of US Highway 95 , British Columbia Highway 95 runs in British Columbia over a length of 329 km from the border between Canada and the USA at Kingsgate to Golden .

The highway is between the state border and the intersection with Highway 3 , as a so-called feeder route , part of the Canadian National Highway System .

Route

The highway begins on the border between Eastport , Idaho , and Kingsgate. It is the northern continuation of US Highway 95. It runs for eleven kilometers along the valley of the Moyie River until it meets Highway 3 in Curzon . Over a length of 72 km there is a common route to the northeast along the Moyie River and Moyie Lake . At the end of the lake, the route continues north to the town of Cranbrook . There, Highway 95A branches off to the northwest on the northern edge of the city , while Highway 3/95 continues to the northeast. Six kilometers after this intersection, Highway 3 separates from Highway 95 again at historic Fort Steele. Highway 3 then runs east together with Highway 93 . The latter leads north along the Kootenay River together with Highway 95 . The river is crossed north of Ta Ta Creek or Wasa , and immediately after the bridge, Highway 95A joins Highway 95 again. The river is followed to Canal Flats , where the route leaves the valley in a north-west direction. The highway runs along the west bank of Columbia Lakes to Fairmont Hot Springs . The route runs north to Windermere Lake , on the banks of which are the parishes of Windermere and Invermere . In the subsequent town of Radium Hot Springs , Highway 95 and 93, which lead northeast into the Rocky Mountains , share again. Highway 95 follows the Columbia River northwest and passes through Edgewater , Brisco , Spillimacheen , Harrogate , Castledale , Parson , McMurdo, and Nicholson . The so-called Columbia Wetlands are crossed. In Golden , the highway meets Highway 1 , which ends Highway 95.
