British Columbia Highway 93 is located in southeastern British Columbia. It is the extension of US Highway 93 , which begins in Arizona . The highway has a length of 317 km in British Columbia, the highway continues in Alberta as Highway 93 , whereby a section of the same is also known as the Icefields Parkway .
Route
The start of the highway is on the Montana border near Roosville . From there it runs in a northerly direction, after 36 km it flows south from Elko to the Highway 3 . The road runs in a north-westerly direction, north of Cranbrook the highways split again. While Highway 3, there together with Highway 95 , leads west, Highway 93 continues its course north. However, there is a joint award with Highway 95 for the following 134 km. The route runs in the valley of the Kootenay River . The Kootenay River is crossed north of Wasa and followed to Canal Flats, where the route leaves the valley in a north-westerly direction. The highway runs along the west bank of Columbia Lakes to Fairmont Hot Springs . The route runs north to Windermere Lake , on the banks of which are the parishes of Windermere and Invermere . In the subsequent town of Radium Hot Springs , Highway 93 and 95, which lead northwest along the Columbia River , share again. Highway 93 heads east to get into Kootenay National Park . The highway meets the valley of the Kootenay River again and follows it north. From Vermilion Peak, the highway leads northeast again to lead to Alberta at Vermilion Pass .
