The British Columbia Highway 28 is on Vancouver Iceland . It runs from Campbell River in a southwest direction to Gold River . To the west of the community the highway ends at the ferry terminal at Muchalat Inlet. The highway has a total length of 88 km.

The highway begins in Campbell River, where it branches off from Highway 19 in a westward direction . It runs directly west of the city through Elk Falls Provincial Park , a 1087 hectare park that is a popular destination. The highway follows a south-westerly direction and grazes the east bank of Campbell Lake . On its way to the west, the road overcomes the Vancouver Island Ranges . The highway runs along the eastern shore of Upper Campbell Lake and leads over a bridge on the narrow between Upper Campbell Lake and Buttle Lake . After that, the route continues to follow the shores of Upper Campbell Lake. At its western end, the route follows the Gold River , it leads through the northern part of Strathcona Provincial Park , the largest provincial park on Vancouver Island. To the west of the park is the Gold River community. The road leads through the village and ends at the ferry port of Muchalat Inlet, from where the islands to the west can be reached by water taxi .
