British Columbia Highway 49 in British Columbia is the western section of the Northern Woods and Water Route , only 16 km long . The Northern Woods and Water Route is a route that runs over 2,400 km from Dawson Creek through British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to Winnipeg. The highway runs east from Dawson Creek to the Alberta provincial border and continues there as Highway 49 .
Route
The highway begins in Dawson Creek as a junction of Highway 2 in the form of a roundabout. East of the city is the Dawson Creek airfield, on the north side of which the highway runs past. After 16 km the provincial border with Alberta is reached, the first community behind the border is Bay Tree , the highway then continues to Spirit River .
