With a length of 61 km, British Columbia Highway 27 is one of the shorter highways in British Columbia , Canada . The highway runs north from Highway 16 at Vanderhoof to Fort St. James .

Route

About two kilometers west of Vanderhoof, the route of Highway 27 branches off from Highway 16, the Yellowhead Highway , to the north. After four kilometers, the Nechako River is crossed, the highway continues north without crossing large settlements. After another 46 km, the Stuart River , the drain of the Stuart Lake, is crossed. Two kilometers further is the parish boundary of Fort St. James, the northern end of the highway. The highway runs through the entire municipality and only ends with the northern municipality boundary. The road splits into two sub-roads, one of which (named North Road) continues to Highway 97 (about 140 km) and the other as Teardrop Rd. To Chief Lake (about 120 km).
