The also called Iceland Highway known Highway 19A crosses the west of Vancouver Iceland . However, the name should not be confused with the Vancouver Inland Island Highway , which is then Highway 19 .

Highway 19A represents the original route from Highway 19 between Nanaimo and Campbell River , before it was expanded as a motorway-like bypass. The highway consists of two sections; the first section is located around Nanaimo, the second section begins at Parksville and runs along the coast to Campbell River. The highway has a length of 137 km (exclusively shared route with Highway 19).
