Windmill in Kühlungsborn

The Erdholländer Mühle is a listed building in Kühlungsborn in the Rostock district ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ).

history

A mill in Brunshaupten was first mentioned in the Mecklenburg state calendar in 1791 . It was mentioned in another document in 1841 as a hereditary windmill. Around 1900 the building was equipped with a compass rose , the Mühlensteert was removed. The plinth storey Dutch mill belonged to Büdnerei No. 13 in 1910 and was sold to master miller Haacker in the same year for 40,000 marks. During a renovation in 1913, the sail wings were removed and replaced by Venetian blinds. The constant reefing and tensioning was eliminated, which made work much easier for the miller. These wings were replaced in 1936 by those with a vented edge; the mill got a rotating stern. It was opened and closed by centrifugal weights attached to bars. The operation was carried out from the outside with a chain. During the renovation in 1953, a double roller mill was installed and the installation of a centrifugal classifier increased the capacity of the plant to one tonne of fine flour per day. After purchasing a peeling machine, barley flakes, barley barley and groats could be produced. In the 1950s, there was still extensive production. After the establishment of an LPG , no more grain was ground. In 1961 the Haacker family fled to Hamburg.

Todays use

After ceasing operations in 1961, the mill stood empty. It was extensively restored from 1987 to 1991 and converted into a restaurant. The restaurant was closed in 2009. After a renovation from 2010 to 2011, the rooms are used as a holiday home.
