Winfried Bauernfeind

Winfried Bauernfeind (born January 26, 1935 in Berlin ; † March 10, 2020 ) was a German opera director .

Bauernfeind initially worked at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as evening director and assistant director to Gustav Rudolf Sellner . He remained loyal to the company throughout his career, which took him to numerous other stages in Europe.

His productions included works from the standard repertoire (and operas by Albert Lortzing and Otto Nicolai ) as well as world premieres by Wilhelm Dieter Siebert ( Der Untergang der Titanic ).

Bauernfeind also made a name for himself as an operetta director and made guest appearances in Mörbisch, Austria . He achieved particular popularity with his productions in Japan.

Winfried Bauernfeind found his final resting place in the old churchyard in Schöneberg , 10827 Berlin, Hauptstrasse 47.
