Winfried Mall

Winfried Mall (* 1952 ) is a German curative educator .

Life

Mall studied curative education at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Freiburg and graduated in 1978 with a diploma in curative education (FH). He then worked for ten years in specialist services in complex facilities for the disabled, 15 years in the accompaniment of chronically mentally ill people, three years in specialist service in a day care center, and from 2006 to 2011 as a group leader in an elderly group at the Johanneum in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland , a facility for the mentally handicapped. Since then, Mall has been working as a freelance consultant and training provider for the mentally disabled. He has been living in St. Gallen since 2006 .

His work focuses on diagnosing and promoting people with severe intellectual disabilities, behavioral problems in the case of intellectual disabilities , autistic behavior in people with intellectual disabilities and practical support in facilities for the disabled.

Basic communication

With the concept of basic communication he developed a way of "communication without preconditions". It became so well known that it is now part of the basic knowledge of curative education. In addition, the concept is also known in other fields of application, for example in the care of people with dementia or in terminal care .

Sensorimotor lifestyles

With the concept of sensorimotor lifestyles , he formulated an understanding concept for the life situation of people with intellectual disabilities , which combines the findings of Jean Piaget about early intellectual development (sensorimotor phase) with those of the psychology of prenatal and early childhood development and names fundamental topics of personality development .
