Werner Burgheim

Werner Burgheim (* 1942 ) is a German social worker, pedagogue, educational scientist and university lecturer in retirement. From 1975 to 2007 he taught as a professor for social education, crisis education and didactics in adult education at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. He was chairman of the International Society for Dying and Life Support (IGSL).

Life

After studying social work in Freiburg with a degree in social worker and studying educational sciences , sociology and psychology in Tübingen with a degree in education , Werner Burgheim received his doctorate in Berlin (Dr. phil). This was followed by many years of activity in social work and in youth and adult education. From 1975 he taught as a professor for social education, crisis education and didactics of adult education at the University of Applied Sciences (now University ) Darmstadt. There he also took on the role of dean for a time and was elected to the board of the German Deans Conference (now "Fachbereichstag").

He also lectured in the nursing and health sciences department and was a visiting professor at Lillehammer University College, Norway. He was also a seminar leader to prepare for hospice care, a lecturer in the training of doctors (palliative) and nurses (palliative care to psycho-social and spiritual topics), as supervisor of hospice professionals, as coach of hospice directors, as a health coach ( psycho- Oncology , Bochum Health Training (BGT)).

In 2007 he retired.
