Wings of Hope Germany , based in Munich, is a church foundation with legal capacity under civil law ; it was founded in 2003. Wings of Hope helps mentally injured people, especially children and adolescents, their families and their helper system from the trauma of violence. The focus of the work is psychosocial help for children and young people who have been traumatized by war and violence. The foundation works in Germany and with local partners in Bosnia-Herzegovina , Northern Iraq , El Salvador , Brazil , Palestine and Israel. Wings of Hope focuses on the individual and social consequences of traumatic experiences. She helps people of all ethnicities, religions and sexes who have suffered trauma from wars and other forms of violence . Wings of Hope is convinced that only when people have overcome and processed their experiences of violence are they free again for peaceful coexistence, even across borders between supposed enemies. Trauma work is therefore much more than therapy, it is peace work. The triad of the foundation is: Heal trauma, make peace, live reconciliation.

Work of the foundation

The work is done primarily through the training and qualification of specialists in the field of psychotraumatology and through work with youth networks that advocate dialogue and reconciliation. These goals are to be achieved through:

  • Trauma training at home and abroad for people in helping professions
  • Networking at home and abroad with teenagers and young adults for dialogue and reconciliation
  • Creating awareness of the issue of violence and its consequences in society
  • Offers for trauma counseling and therapy at home and abroad in the trauma aid centers of the Wings of Hope partners for individuals and groups

With its commitment, the foundation would like to make a contribution to building a sustainable civil society in a post-war situation in order to prevent new conflicts from breaking out. It promotes the ability of children and adolescents to act in a peaceful, reconciling and tolerant manner. In addition to a supporting role for the public health system, Wings of Hope Germany thus also serves to promote international understanding . The name of the foundation is derived from the objective of its work: to give children and young people who have suffered from war and violence "Wings of Hope" again.

In Germany, the versatile trauma and peace work takes place in the form of various activities such as trauma training, seminars, supervision, in-house training, offers of trauma counseling and trauma therapy, as well as networking. The foundation offers these at various locations in Bavaria. At the Labenbachhof in Ruhpolding, a centuries-old mountain farm with a leisure and conference center, the foundation conducts projects and training courses with a trauma-pedagogical and trauma-therapeutic background. This offers seminars, training and further education to people from helping professions and other interested parties.
