Winnenthal is a small village in the town of Xanten in the Wesel district in North Rhine-Westphalia , which essentially consists of the Winnenthal house and its outbuildings. Until 1939 Winnenthal was an independent municipality in what was then the district of Moers .

Winnenthal is located on the southern edge of the urban area of ​​Xanten between Unterbirten and Veen in the Xanten district of Birten . The former municipality of Winnenthal had an area of ​​1.37 km².

history

Winnenthal originally belonged to the Duchy of Kleve and formed a rural community in the Prussian mayorship of Veen since the 19th century . This belonged to the Geldern district until 1857 and to the Moers district since 1857.

The municipality of Winnenthal was incorporated into the municipality of Birten on April 1, 1939. Birten in turn was incorporated into the city of Xanten by the law on the reorganization of municipalities in the district of Moers on July 1, 1969.
