Winrich Langer

Winrich Langer (born May 3, 1939 in Allenstein , East Prussia) is a German legal scholar .

Life

After studying law at the University of Hamburg and both state examinations, Winrich Langer received his doctorate with a thesis in criminal law . After completing his habilitation on the reform of the criminal law that was in progress at the time, he received a call from the University of Göttingen in 1974 . Until his retirement in the 2007/2008 winter semester, he was Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at the Institute for Procedural Law at the Philipps University of Marburg .

Winrich Langer's teaching activities cover the entire area of ​​substantive criminal law and criminal procedural law. One focus of his teaching is the methodology of the application of the law, because he wants to make all students aware of the rule of law importance of legal dogmatics and bring them closer. On the other hand, Langer campaigned for the criminal law proseminar to be created as an independent course and always offered so far.

Langer's main fields of work are the legal doctrine of core criminal law (general criminal law theory and special section of the criminal code) and criminal procedure law.

Special research focuses are the dogma-historical development of the modern criminal offense systematics and the influence of constitutional law on the material and the formal criminal law.
