The physicist Frank Werner invented in 1973 in the United States , the Novus Glass Repair System, with the idea of repairs on laminated glass - windshield perform, thus avoiding the replacement of the windshield.
Novus AG has been offering a system for the permanent repair of stone chip damage to built-in vehicle windscreens since 1982, and Wintec Autoglas still works with the inventor's system today.
Wintec AG has its origins in the founding of Novus GmbH Germany and Austria in 1988 with the first German franchise system for rockfall repairs based in Idstein .
In 1992 the “Wintec” brand (windshield technology) was registered, with the simultaneous beginning of the replacement of windshields on cars and trucks . In 1997 novus GmbH moved into Limburg an der Lahn .
In 2000 the legal form was changed from GmbH to AG, and the ISO 9001 certificate ID 0910074066 was introduced by TÜV Rheinland . In 2009 the company name was changed from novus AG to Wintec AG. In 2011 it was sold to the Innovation Group . 2012 saw a realignment of the “Wintec Autoglas” brand. The CSC calibration system from Hella Gutmann was introduced in 2013.
