The Winter Bay is a bay near the southwest end of Filla Iceland in the group of Rough Islands off the Ingrid Christensen Coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth country .
The schooner Dick Smith Explorer wintered here from February 1983 to January 1984 as part of the Frozen Sea Expedition (1982-1984) carried out by the Australian Oceanic Research Foundation , which initially gave the bay the name Winterover Bay . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia later shortened this name.
