history
The owner-managed company was founded in Friedrichshafen in 1947 by Karl Winterhalter , and in 1959 the company moved to Meckenbeuren. At the end of the 1960s, the first branches in other European countries were established.
In 2004 the company took over the British competitor CLASSEQ, founded in 1977.
The Winterhalter Group includes the EauVation brand, which, as a separately managed business unit, has specialized in water dispensers for restaurants and companies of all kinds.
Winterhalter employed 1,900 people in 2018. The global sales network includes over 40 own sales organizations, sales partnerships exist in over 70 countries, and the export share is around 75 percent. The turnover in 2018 was around 325 million euros. The managing partners are Jürgen and Ralph Winterhalter.
