Wippermann's house
The Wippermannsche Haus in Lemgo , a town in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia , was built in 1576 for the merchant Karsten Wippermann using parts of the previous building. The building at Kramerstraße 5 is a protected monument .
The three-storey plastered stone house with ashlar structure is a late Gothic work . On the ground floor there is a large stone fireplace from 1622 with relief decorations, coat of arms and the inscription of the married couple Christian von der Wipper and Elisabeth Dohm. The bay window on the first floor with four windows has a tracery crown .
An elevator wheel has been preserved in the attic, which was used to move goods from the street into the house. The vaulted cellar probably comes from the previous buildings. On the lintel initials BCM and ACB and the year 1755 are attached.
In 1976 the city of Lemgo bought the house and had it restored to its original form.
