The Ravensburg Economic Museum is a museum on the economic and social history of the 19th and 20th centuries in the Ravensburg district .

The museum goes back to a foundation of the Kreissparkasse Ravensburg and is located in the old town of Ravensburg . It opened on October 27, 2012. Christian von der Heydt is in charge.

The museum is located in Marktstraße 22, which is of medieval origin and belonged to the Furttenbach patrician family. In the 19th century it housed the Oberamtspflege and from 1823 to 1931 was also the first seat of the Oberamtssparkasse, the first district savings bank in Württemberg. After that the house was used for a long time by the management of the Ravensburger Verlag .

With the Museum Humpis-Quartier opposite , the neighboring Ravensburger Museum and the nearby Ravensburg Art Museum , the museum is part of a "Museum Quarter" in Ravensburg's old town that was created between 2009 and 2013.

exhibition

Objects and documents are shown that illustrate the history of business operations in the Ravensburg district. With agriculture, craft, industry as well as trade, banks and services, all branches of the economy are illuminated. The history of work and the workers is also presented. The museum's permanent exhibition features some rarities such as the old vault room of the former Oberamtssparkasse, a test engine for a steam trolley from the Ravensburg car pioneer Jakob Kilgus and Torfwasen for firing the first production of Oberland Glas in Bad Wurzach. The exhibits are complemented by short radio plays and audio and video recordings of interviews.
