ScienceForum Berlin
The WissenschaftsForum Berlin is an informal association of scientific institutions founded in 1999 that promotes contacts between scientific institutions and with politics, business and administration. Participation in this network is exclusively regulated by maintaining an office in the ScienceForum building directly on Gendarmenmarkt (Markgrafenstrasse 37) in Berlin . The science forum was originally "intended as a counterpart to the science center in Bonn ".
history
The forum has its own building; it was set up as part of the investment of the Volkswagen Foundation ; In 1991, the state of Berlin turned to the foundation "with the request to set up a forum for scientific organizations at the future seat of the federal government". The Volkswagen Foundation examined the profitability of the project through a subsidiary, the "Immobilien-Verwaltungs- und Anlagegesellschaft Dr. A. Steiger KG", and erected the building. The total costs for the property and building were calculated at 47 million euros.
