Science award of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Saxony
The Science Prize of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Sachsen is a prize issued by the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Sachsen to promote the next generation of scientists.
The award was first given in 1996 and goes back to a foundation by the German-American economist and publicist Günter Reimann from New York. The science prize is awarded primarily to young scientists who “develop original ideas about serious social problems” in their respective research work.
The prize is endowed with a cash prize and is awarded annually in Leipzig. While it was awarded to several awardees in three stages until 2009, it has only been awarded to one person per year since 2010. In 1997, 2005 and 2007 there was no first prize; In 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2017 there were no winners at all.
