Science Prize of the Association for the History of Berlin

The Science Award of the Association for the History of Berlin is since 2018 annually by the Association for the history of Berlin awarded. It is endowed with up to 4,000 euros.

Due to a bequest from Stefan Massante († 2015) and Hanna Massante to the Association for the History of Berlin, the financial prerequisites were created so that the association could offer a prize for research work. The science award was first awarded in 2018 and presented at the New Year's reception of the Association for the History of Berlin in the Rotes Rathaus on January 17, 2019. Two people were honored from the 13 applications.

Application criteria

“The science award honors research work or projects planned or written by individuals or in a community, or projects by younger scholars on the history of Berlin - in particular from the areas of social and societal history, art and cultural history, legal and constitutional history, economic, scientific and technological history. Projects that take into account and convey the European and global aspects of Berlin's history are particularly welcome. Publications, but also exhibitions, oral history projects, the programming of 'apps' or other innovative products with historical content can be funded. There are no specifications regarding the format of the planned projects. The VfdGB funding program also aims to support exceptional commitment to historical research and research-related student initiatives or their dissemination. "
