Susanne Kähler

Susanne Kähler (* 1966 in Hanover ) is a German professor of museum studies at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW).

Education

Kähler studied art history, French and psychology at the universities in Kiel and Berlin , which she completed in 1991 with a master's thesis on high-Gothic baptismal fonts in the Lüneburg area . In 1994 she did her doctorate under Peter Bloch on German sculptors in Paris .

job

After a traineeship at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, from 2001 to 2014, Kähler prepared art historical reports and accompanied restorations on behalf of the Berlin State Monuments Office , including inventory projects in which the images in public spaces in numerous Berlin districts, most recently in Spandau , according to one of her and Jörg Kuhn developed systematics were recorded. In 2006 she became a lecturer in the museum studies course at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW). From 2007 to 2014 she headed the Art Casting Museum in Lauchhammer . In 2014 she became a professor at the HTW for the bachelor's degree in museum studies and the master's degree in museum management and communication .

Kähler is a team member of the Berlin Center for Industrial Culture and has been a member of the executive board of the Association for the History of Berlin since 2005 .
