State Monument Office Berlin
The Landesdenkmalamt Berlin is the monument authority of the State of Berlin .
tasks
It has the task of cross-district research, recording, inventory, publication and communication of the architectural and cultural monuments in the city-state. It is also responsible for approving grants, issuing tax certificates and drafting reports. As a public authority, it is to be involved in the land-use planning and can contribute itself to proceedings. The authority is superordinate to the 12 lower monument protection authorities in Berlin, which, in agreement with them, carry out the approval process under monument law. The State Monuments Office is subordinate to the Senate Department for Culture and Europe , which is the supreme monument protection authority. The seat of the State Monument Office is the old town house in Berlin.

The State Monuments Office is subdivided into three content-related areas: building and art monument maintenance; Garden monuments and archeology and Denkmalinventarisation and monument mediation.
