LWL archeology for Westphalia
The LWL archeology for Westphalia , headquartered in Münster, is an agency of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe (LWL).
LWL archeology researches, documents and maintains the archaeological and palaeontological monuments in Westphalia-Lippe on the basis of the Monument Protection Act of North Rhine-Westphalia and presents its findings to the public in exhibitions and collections. As a specialist office, it is not included in the hierarchy of the monument protection authorities, but supports them as an independent institution.
It is divided into:
- Archeology with branches in Bielefeld, Münster and Olpe .
- LWL Museum for Archeology in Herne
- LWL Roman Museum in Haltern am See
- Museum in the Kaiserpfalz in Paderborn
