The Hamburg Monument Protection Office is a department of the Authority for Culture and Media and at the same time the highest monument authority of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg . Its tasks include researching, protecting and preserving the cultural monuments in the city-state. The Bodendenkmalpflege is in Hamburg from the Archaeological Museum Hamburg perceived (Helms-Museum).

The monument protection law of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg forms the basis of monument protection and preservation . An independent monument council is attached to the monument protection office , which advises on fundamental issues.

There is a list of monuments for the cultural monuments that are legally protected .
