Arnd Bauerkämper

Arnd Bauerkämper (born August 20, 1958 in Detmold ) is a German historian .

Life

Bauerkämper studied history, received his doctorate in 1989 from Bielefeld University and completed his habilitation in 2001 at the Free University of Berlin . In 2007 he became an adjunct professor there and in 2009 professor of the history of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Research areas

Arnd Bauerkämper researches and publishes primarily on the history of Great Britain in the 19th and 20th centuries, on fascism in Europe and on the social history of the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR, as well as on democracy and civil society in the Federal Republic in the transatlantic relationship to the USA and on the relations between Europe and the Middle and Far East. Methodologically and theoretically, the history of comparisons and entanglements is a constant focus in Arnd Bauerkämmer's work.
