Witthart Malik

Witthart Malik (* in Königsberg , Kaliningrad ) is a German harpsichordist and composer .

life and work

Malik attended the scholars' school of the Johanneum in Hamburg, studied conducting , composition and organ in Hamburg and Berlin, music, art and literature in Freiburg, Munich, Hamburg and Berlin.

He was particularly concerned with music from the Middle Ages to the Baroque and worked as a musicologist , composer and performer .

As a harpsichordist, he focuses on the piano and chamber music works of Johann Sebastian Bach , which he has played in most of the European countries.

Malik's Bach interpretations are considered unconventional and are also valued in jazz and rock music circles.
