Witzweg

The Witzweg is located in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland . Along the way, Appenzell jokes are presented on boards in Swiss German and Standard German at around 40 stations .

The hike on the approximately eight-kilometer path takes about two and a half hours and leads from Heiden to Walzenhausen .

The Witzweg offers a good view of the Lake Constance region and leads past various «rustic» restaurants. The route runs from Heiden ( 800  m above sea level ) via Wolfhalden ( 709  m ), Klus ( 699  m ), Sonder ( 781  m ), Schiben ( 725  m ), Hostet ( 743  m ) to Walzenhausen ( 673  m ). The hike can also be done in the opposite direction.

The joke trail is also used as an alternative for the post bus -distance Heiden-Walzenhausen on the tour Rorschach -Heiden-Walzenhausen- Rheineck -Rorschach used.
